L'ordre tanca la imatge activa. Si no s'ha obert cap imatge està desactivada.
Closing an image is not undoable: once it is closed, everything is gone, including the undo history. If the image is not «clean» — that is, if you have changed it since the last time you saved it — you are asked to confirm that you really want to close it.

An image is only marked as clean when it is saved as an XCF file. Exporting to a different image format does not mark a changed image as clean, since it does not preserve all the information in the image. |
Podeu accedir a aquesta ordre des del menú de la imatge amb → ,
o amb la drecera de teclat Ctrl+W.
Per a la majoria dels sistemes en què funciona el GIMP, també podeu executar-ho fent clic en el botó «Tanca», en alguna part en la barra de títol de la finestra d'imatge. La ubicació i l'aparença d'aquest botó la determina el sistema de finestres i el gestor de finestres. Si no hi ha cap imatge oberta, en fer clic en aquest botó es tanca GIMP.
